US Border to Clairmont, AB (near Grand Prairie)
6/17/17
Left Great Falls, MT and headed north. Crossed the Canadian border with no problems (they didn't even take my produce away). Arrived in Granum, Alberta (AB) Canada. The campground had a large pond, and the dogs were in it immediately. Lots of trees and grass.
We are far enough north to begin to see the long days. This picture of the trees in front of our campsite was taken at 9:30 p.m. The sun sets at around 9:45 p.m. here. We are only here for one night, so no touring or no news.

Sunday - Happy Father's Day to all you fathers out there. My dad celebrated at my sister's house with family, and I heard dinner was great.
Today our route is Granum AB to Edmonton, AB. We are headed north and passing through the outskirts of Calgary, AB. Here is a picture from my window.
Continuing north to Acheson, a suburb of Edmonton, AB. Edmonton is the northernmost large city (over 100,000 population) in Canada. Our campground, Glowing Embers, was lovely, and so were the people here. We are here for 3 nights as a 'catch up' stop. Here we do chores - laundry, small fix up projects, etc. The skies are ominous and threaten of a storm coming.
6/19/17
Laundry day. Had to buy 'loonies' (those are $1 Canadian dollar coins) for the machines. They call them loonies because they gave a loon on the coin. By the way, a $2 Canadian dollar coin is called a 'toonie'. $1 Canadian is worth about .778 of a US dollar.
Tom and I installed the new Magna Shade, a sun shade for the exterior of the windshield. It looks very nice and goes up with magnets rather than hooks on the body of the motorhome. The instructions told us to put it up and let the shade stretch and flatten out for one day. We plan to permanently install the inside magnets tomorrow. Tom also detached all of the tire monitors as they refused to work, in fact, it looks like that made one of the tires on the motorhome lose air.
6/20/17
Finally got to sleep in until 8:00 am. Today we are going shopping in Spruce Grove, which is immediately next to Acheson, AB. We both got pedicures and I got nails done - it felt great. Out to lunch and a stop at Home Depot for light fixtures for the bathroom mirror. Also made a stop at a bank - TD Canadian Trust - to exchange US dollars for Canadian dollars. Everyone here is so NICE!
Got back to the motorhome and Tom starting filling air in the right front tire. Then we started to permanently glue the magnets on the inside of the windshield, when the skies finally opened up-- lightning, thunder, and pouring rain. Poor Tom got drenched standing outside on the ladder. We had to quit before we were done, and wait out the storm. Had dinner, and finished the windshield afterwards. It is still light outside. The sun finally went down at 10:02 p.m. The further north we go, the longer the days. I wonder what it is like in Fairbanks????
6/21/17
Left Acheson for Clairmont, a farming community near Grand Prairie, AB. It was about 4.5 hours on the road plus lunch -- a long day of driving. Arrived at Country Roads RV Park in Clairmont around 4:00 p.m. We fought the wind the whole drive here. It seemed stronger than any of our previous drives. Tom was exhausted, so he took a nap, with the dogs of course.
Now I have some time to catch up my log book, and this blog. The internet here isn't great, but it will do if I don't lose my patience. The landscapes coming here were so green. Lots of farms and lots of wild yellow flowers all over the rolling hills. Signs on the road remind you to look out for deer and moose, as they cross the roads. This campground is thick with all kinds of trees, but a blue spruce is right out our front window, and it is one of my favorites.
We are here for 2 nights, then on to Dawson Creek to meet up with our tour group. I will try to get a blog off after Dawson Creek.
